I liked it well enough. And I didn't hate the ending either (warning: spoilers may appear in comments). I'm sad that it's all over, though. I got a bit nostalgic at the end when the sound of the locusts started up at the cemetery (like in first stage long, long ago). The movies had better have some eurobeat.

I accept it as an ending but wished it didn't end.

Everything after first stage sucked. I don't remember in which stage cars had angel wings, which was so ridiculous I just stopped watching the whole thing.

I liked the ending. I was going to be PISSED if Takumi lost at the very end. I really wanted to see an episode where Bunta raced someone.

Yeah. Bunta had the potential to be such a badass guy. Like Marlon Brando in the Godfather. But instead it would be on the touge.

I see where you're coming from. They were also all emo for a couple of seasons. People rag on the CGI from first stage, but I still think it was the best. The wings were final stage, and were a bit cringe-worthy.

It was very anime. Which, by definition, means it was pretty long winded and awful. The series needed to end. It was running around in circles.

Like, for real. Fuck anime.

Yeah, it was retarded. It was like the car had some soul that interacted with the aura of the driver, or some crap like that.
